Sundance Film Festival 2. First wave of films announced. Three years after the premiere of their hit rom- com Obvious Child, Jenny Slate and writer- director Gillian Robespierre are returning to Sundance. Slate and Robespierre’s new feature film Landline will make its premiere in dramatic competition at 2.

The annual indie festival announced its Dramatic Competition, Documentary Competition, and Next film categories on Wednesday, ranging from buzzy documentaries to star- studded feature films. Landline follows the two Jacobs sisters in . Edie Falco, John Turturro, Jay Duplass, Abby Quinn, and Finn Wittrock star alongside Slate, with Robespierre directing and co- writing the script with Obvious Child’s Elisabeth Holm. This year’s festival is packed with female- led projects, from Patti Cake$, starring Danielle Macdonald as an aspiring New Jersey rapper, to Band Aid, starring, written by, and directed by Zoe Lister Jones about a couple who attempt to save their marriage by starting a band. As part of the “New Climate” program, the festival will spotlight documentaries and films that raise awareness for environmental issues — an issue Redford has long been passionate about. Selections include projects like Chasing Coral, about the decline of the world’s coral reefs, and Trophy, which documents the big- game hunting industry.
